Elective Course | Lecturer with Prof. Hubert Klumpner | 2017 - Present
The ACTION! ON THE REAL CITY Elective series has run weekly every semester as an introduction to ethnographic and experimental filmmaking methods at the urban scale. It is part of the curriculum at the Department of Architecture of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETHZ), offered by the Chair for Architecture and Urban Design.
Through a combination of practical exercises in documentary filmmaking and ethnographic social research skills, the course aims to equip 20-30 students with the basic tools and core principles to create short but complex portraits of urban space in a variety of field sites. Since 2019, with the contribution of Dr. Michael Walczak, the course also challenges students to experiment with 3D modelling and animation.
